Case Study

Western Canada Marine Response Corporation (WCMRC) - device website mock

The Western Canada Marine Response Corporation (WCMRC) approached Caorda to develop a new, fully interactive map for their website. While WCMRC had already established the design direction—complete with custom ship icons and a cohesive visual style—the project had stalled due to development challenges. They turned to Caorda to bring their vision to completion.

Our development team quickly got to work, implementing a hover-based interaction for response base details. A key challenge was the geographic separation between bases on the South Coast and Prince Rupert on the North Coast. To ensure a seamless user experience, we introduced an intuitive button-based navigation system that allowed users to toggle between two separate maps, eliminating the need for excessive zooming and improving overall usability.

Additionally, our graphic design team stepped in to enhance the map’s functionality. They re-drew the map at a higher resolution and created layered files, enabling smooth zooming and improved visibility on mobile devices. This solution ensured that users could interact with the map effectively across all screen sizes.

After thorough testing and iterative refinements, Caorda’s IT team successfully deployed the new map on schedule. WCMRC was highly impressed with the results, leading them to entrust Caorda with further website enhancements and migrate all of their sites to Caorda’s Canadian-based Hosting services.

This project highlights Caorda’s ability to solve complex development challenges, improve user experience, and deliver high-quality digital solutions on time and with lasting impact.
