In SpamTitan, each level of administration can set rules and policies that are inherited by the lower levels. This allows each level of administration to adjust the system as they need.
The system works with levels of hierarchy where rules and policies set by a higher level get inherited. If these rules are needing to be changed, they can be superseded by lower level administrative rules.
As an example, this chart describes the behavior. Lower rules supersede the ones above.
Level of Rules: |
Description: |
Administrative |
These are rules set by Caorda for all users in the System. These rules include blocking known spam IP addresses and Domains. |
Domain Group |
A domain group is a group of domains that are grouped together under a group name for the convenience of controlling access by a domain group administrator. Caorda will set these groups of domains for clients that have multiple domains for management purposes. Rules and policies set here will supersede Administrative rules. |
Domain |
Domain Administrators have access to the domain level allow and block lists, as well as all quarantined mail for that domain. Rules and policies set here will supersede Domain Group and Administrative rules. |
Users |
By default, users inherit the policy set for their domain. If a user policy exists for a user, the user policy overrides the domain policy. User rules and policies override rules inherited by Domains, Domain Groups, and Administrators. As an example, if a Domain policy specifies that a quarantine report is to be sent once a week, a user can instead select the setting for it to be daily. |
